Welcome

The Murine Behavior and Metabolic Research Support Facility provides expertise and equipment for behavioral and metabolic phenotyping of mice. The Behavioral component includes assays for learning and memory, motor function, emotion and stress-related behaviors, including two TSE Multi Conditioning Systems consisting of 9 behavioral assessment paradigms. The Metabolic component includes a four metabolic cage system for monitoring food intake, respiratory metabolism and energy expenditure in animal models of diabetes, metabolic syndrome and other conditions that alter metabolism. Multiple murine temperature probes are also available for implantation and use in conjunction with the metabolic cages or separately.

All equipment is located in the JABSOM Kaka’ako vivarium on the first floor of the Biomedical Sciences Building.  One TSE Multi Conditioning System will be relocated to the Manoa vivarium, once renovations are complete.
